It requires an FFL 01 because working on a completed firearm is considered gunsmithing if we do it regularly for profit.

A lawsuit could probably clear this up, but we would need some pretty deep pockets for that. Government has unlimited financial resources unfortunately.
What exactly does deep pockets mean? I'm contemplating crowd sourcing a legal fund....

So this cease and desist letter was specific to your company only?

Another company sent a letter to the ATF asking if CNC rentals are legal and the ATF basically said no.

Waiting to see how things go over the next few months, but if nothing changes, this might be worth a try.

Since 80% CNC Rentals discontinued their rental service, we've worked out a agreement with Arms Specialty and Tool in Orange to provide CNC rentals to our customers with 80% Arms lowers at special rate of $50 per lower. The regular rate for other brand lowers if $75.

That would be nice since I'm sched to get some done with them this weekend.

On machining, depends on the number of lowers and the brand. On 80% Arms lowers the pricing is already discounted from $70 to $50 there isn't as much room to discount unless we're talking about a pretty big group. On other brands we have more flexibility on discounting. Please send a PM or email and we can discuss further.
I take it you mean they have been discounted $50-75 from the "Original" price, not that they have been discounted down to $5-75?

                              Just clarifying.

Having some trouble understanding your question, can you please clarify? We are referring all our customers to AS&T for CNC Rentals. Their normal rate is $75, however we have an agreement where they will rent their CNC for $50 to customers with our brand of lower.
