These are formed(bent) & flat MIL-DTL-46100 armor trauma plates that fit inside plate carriers. The size is roughly 10"x12" in dimension.

They are 1/4" thick and lab testing has been done (Ill post the lab test results shortly). I just obtained my NIJ test ID number and will be sending off a number of plates to be tested again only this time for NIJ certification instead of just R&D results. These were tested to NIJ 0101.06 and passed for a level III.

Its a material very similar to AR500 steel, its MIL-DTL-46100 which is actually a milspec armor plate. More costly than AR500 and every piece is certified.

Ah ok good, i know ups can beat usps' price on 1-2 plates but once the weight gets up there usps is a better deal. Should be getting some better pricing setup in certain weight ranges for ups here real shortly.

Well 46100 is excellent vs small-medium caliber handguns, and that was my primary concern.Thanks again TFU, i was unfamiliar with the 46100 until i looked it up, It really is a great price for a quality mil-spec plate. Will reccommend to my friends!

hey, i have an Ares armor aspis plate carrier (http://www.aresarmor.com/install/eco...AA-ASP-PC.html), and have been looking for quality, reasonable priced and weighted plates for quite some time, upon measuring it seems the 10x12 will fit front, and rear, would a straight plate be better for rear? and what about front?

if you are going to be using a weapon, you want to have a curved front, as it will let you aim naturally. using a flat plate on the front will prevent you from holding a pistol correctly in front of you because it restricts arm movement. the back is really a matter of preference. I prefer flat on the back.
