If you don't have an NFA trust, you'll have to factor that in. It's a one time setup fee of $200-600 depending upon who you have do the trust and you can then put as many firearms in the trust as you wish with no additional costs.
If you can pass a California DROS background check, you will pass the NFA background check.
So if I have a trust already set up, and if I decide to AOW an existing AR/AK pistol can I do so for $5 or does it cost more for a tax stamp to manufacture one as opposed to getting one transferred from you to me? I understand being an 07 ffl with 02 SOT allows the manufacture of such weapon, however the underlined statement below is what confused me.

"Handguns with a forward vertical grip. It is therefore illegal to place an aftermarket foregrip on any pistol without first registering it as an AOW and paying the $200 "making tax" imposed by the Act."

I know it's nothing amazing like having an SBR, SBS or a MG but I'm sure it'll piss off an RO that likes to give people hell about their firearms on his range. (like my last range trip 3 days ago.)

Can you please give me an example of what an NFA trust would look like for a regular blue collar worker that doesn't have a corp.

After my divorce in 2000 I've always wanted a Serbu SS and a Siris. CRAP!, I'm still stuck here.

If you want to manufacture an AOW yourself on an NFA form 1, it is $200.

If you want us to manufacture an AOW for you from your gun and parts, it's $125 + engraving/shipping costs + $5 tax stamp for AR/AK type pistols.

Either one of these processes takes anywhere from 6-20 weeks for approval depending upon ATF workload.

If you find an AOW that you want from another dealer, it can be sent to us for transfer and our fee is $100 + tax + DROS. Labor/parts to convert a firearm to single shot status as required for Californa DROS is additional. This process requires two separate approvals from ATF, so this requires additional patience.

A trust can be setup for you by one of several professionals that we can refer you to. The cost ranges from $200 to $600+ depending upon who you choose to create the document.

You can have a Serbu SS or any other Cali legal AOW and we can make it happen for you!

If I am not mistaken, the Siris is internally suppressed. Sadly, there is no path to ownership of suppressors in California for the average person.

If you aren't an 07FFL/02SOT, you have to use a Form 1 to get permission to make an AOW. It costs $200 to make anything on a Form 1.

Once the AOW exists, it can be transfered to a new owner for $5 on a Form 4, but the initial making costs $200 if you aren't a licensed manufacturer.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

Ok, maybe this is a dumb question but I've always between told there are no stupid questions, what advantages are there in forming a trust? And what will it allow me to own legally in california

With a trust you will be able to acquire California legal NFA items like AOWs and C&R SBR/SBS. In most areas of California you will be unable to obtain law enforcement sign off of the required NFA form 4. The trust eliminates this LE approval requirement entirely. You could also potentially have a multi-state trust drawn up that would allow you to own most any NFA item including FA, modern SBR/SBS, DD and suppressors if they are kept in a free state like Arizona or Nevada.
