I agree though, other than these two and a few other examples, the market is pretty much wide open for someone to make a mid power variable FFP.
And light it needs to be a pound or less in weight.

A scope over a 1lb in weight starts to mess with the balance of a AR

Just for kicks I tried mounting a SWFA 3-15 SS at 24oz it really made the gun a chore to handle off the bench. Yet I have seen guys at indoor 50yd ranges with 8-32x scopes. To each their own.

a leupold 3-9X40 duplex reticle has always worked for decades in the application you intend

The 2-7 has more eye relief, lighter, and more compact for on top of a AR Reciever.

Not much difference 7x to 9x

I can shoot 2-7x scopes and fixed 4x scopes 1000yds. A scope with FFP, Mil Dot, and adjustable parallax makes it easier.

There is no better reticle for shooting in the wind than Mil Dot.

Do people need sports cars and Bro Trucks? No but they are fun!

Now you can range find with a plex reticle scope and make good shots on game. I find them faster than BDC's to use. But if your going to shoot way out like past 500yds your going to need another tool for consistent accuracy. To get that humane 1 shot kill.

However I would take and love the Leopold 3-9x over 2-10x mil/moa scope (that math is way to crazy to do in the head).

I use a 5-25 scope with an FFP reticle. It usually sits at around 20x, but dial down for positional and multiple target/distance engagements/hold overs.
