It is a private range, but Avenal Gun Club near Coalinga has a silhouette range and 600-900 yards steel. Membership is full, but you can get on a wait list.

220-550 yard silhouette range (chickens, pigs, turkey, and ram lines)



600, 700, 800, and 900 yard range. There is also a LR shooting program which is 50 shots, with one shot on each target (the targets are the white things you see sprinkled on the hill are numbered and are 1-2 MOA sized steel). Distance is given to you right before you shoot and you have X minutes to fire at the X amount of targets at that station. There are 4 stations. you walk the hilly course. I plan on attending the one in April.

The NCSA Pala range in San Diego county actually has steel out to 887 yards, not 600. Slight angle too.

6˚ but not enough to effect an elevation change much. Thats a 5 yard difference.

you don't start worring about up or down angle till it gets more then 15˚

@ 15˚ 887 would be 856

Steel Targets from 200 to to 1450. You can also post paper target at 100 to sight in. Just need RO to call cease fire. Otherwise shoot non stop.

There is also obstacles and a used van if you are into PRS style.

Some Targets for .22 too.

9am to 1 on somedays. I was told they also open on Sundays in the fourth Sunday of each month. So don't believe what Google map is saying. Call if not sure.

In kernville Kern County there is Kern River Valley Gun Association has steel out to 750 yards. Great range. Also a great place to practice wind calls. 750 yard is a ram at the red dot. krvga.jpg
