Hawaii five-0:
*sigh*
I know you all mad because you made yourself a fool on the public forums thinking you could show everyone you are smarter than a gunsmith and failed. I think that Valley82 is giving the wrong person advice about having a thick skin.
BUT
If you had bothered to read the first part of my post:
you would not have stuck your foot into your mouth and down your throat.
BTW if you looked at the time stamp of the post you would of noticed it was close to 2 a.m., so unlike the others with several months of backlog working 9 to 5 I work into the early morning to keep my back logs down to weeks. SO when I have some free time waiting for the last batch to cure I will come to CalGuns and give tones of FREE and CORRECT advise to fellow members.
Ferritic Nitrocarburizing, Tenifer, Melonite and the rest are surface hardening treatments and are not coatings. Finishes are coatings you put on the surface that builds up on the surface and is dissimilar to the base material. I will be the nice guy here and even though you tried to insult me and failed I will be happy to educate you.
Ferritic Nitrocarburizing (Tenifer, Melonite etc.) = surface hardening treatment
Case Hardening = surface hardening treatment
Hot and Slow rust bluing = surface conversion treatment/Finish
Parkerizing = coating finish
Cerakote = coating finish
Nickel Plating = coating finish
So maybe next time you should first get your facts correct before you decide to "slap down" someone on the forums.
Valley82:
Sure you were attacking me by trying to mock me by laughing thinking Hawaii Five-0 made me look like I do not know what I am talking about.
Basically no better than laughing if I stated the world was round and Hawaii Five-0 says," No No No everyone knows the world is flat".
You might be successful but reading your posts about firearms I think I know why you do not want to be a gunsmith ........ or could ever be one.

Glocks are a parkerized finish not blued and have a nitride harden surface that will resist acid to some extent, if you gonna be a you tube gunsmith at least know the difference between finishes.
