    1911 build problem hammer issue

Hey guys so I'm building a 1911 on a rudius frame and when I put the hammer in it is only at half cock and doesn't move would I need to redo the hole for the hammer?

I would take it apart and reinstall everything again. If the hammer is stuck, something is not fit together properly. Could be that the main spring is not seated right or the hammer strut is stuck.

The picture is small. Do you have the thumb, grip safety and MSH installed? Is the sear in backwards?

The main string housing and nothing else is really installed and no I didn't put the sear backwards the hammer can only be stuck on the 1st notch or 2nd and not have any free movement. It appears to me the the sear cannot go far back enough (probably drilled the holes a tad close) for the hammer to be able to move freely around

I guess you should double check the hammer and sear holes against the blueprints, makes sure your dimensions are correct. Without the pins, do the hammer and sear move freely between the sides ?

Well looks like you got it covered yourself.

yeah they do I put them on top of the frame and it seems to work okay but when I put them inside it's just stuck. I'm thinking of welding the holes shut and redrilling

I meant do they fit in the slots where they belong, without interference on the sides. Also, how did you measure and drill the hammer and sear holes?

Is the Sear curved pocket under the Disconnector hole milled out enough to allow free movement of the Sear. And like said above what is the width of the Hammer Slot.

I used a digital caliper and yes they do fit in the slots

Well I sanded off this square numb off the half cock notch and I was filing the inside of the hammer and now it is starting to move around but it can't quite go to full cock and release all the way back so I guess I'll keep filing away

Take it to a gunsmith. For a few bucks he can take a look at what's happening.

You filed off the notch on the hammer? The hammer / sear engagement is the last thing you wanted to mess with. Did you mark anything with layout fluid, or a sharpie, try to see what the cause of the friction is?
