yep..surplus metal places are the way to go...near me is a place I go all the time with huge blocks of 6061-T6 I get for 2.28/lb

Fantastic Job!

You did a great job. I am very impressed that you did all of this using hand tools. I pretty much measured everything out, designed a bunch of custom fixturing and milled all the mounts and stuff ... using the new mill of course. I then drilled and tapped a few places on the mill and installed the X, Y and Z DROS.

I can say this for certain. Having the DROS on the machine makes it a lot easier to do the machining. That is for sure!

I am very pleased with the DRO. Gonna change a few things. All in all pretty cool and worth the time and money.
