Fig I got a bit to learn to fin the zero percent. Hooking up the DRO looks like it's take a while.

            Probably have already read this:

They are a pain to install but they are AWESOME. I have a kit I got from enco for my knee mill (bridgeport clone) and it is better than CNC for quick jobs. I used to use my friends HAAS mini mill in a kind of manual mode where I would start the spindle and use the controls like a DRO, but not since I got the DRO on the knee mill.

It's kind of like replacing some crappy iron sights with a high quality red dot, it's just better.

i have the same mill. i love it. half of those endmills are junk. dont forget to tram it. do your self a favor and do the air spring conversion. the stock spring sucks and the fine feed doesnt work too smooth at certain heights.

I just picked this up too, and the starter kit, looking for videos on "how to". And a table\workbench to mount it on. I was so happy to find out they were in Pasadena, 5 miles away from my office!

I just installed the cheap dro scales from grizzly (or littlemachineshop) and for the display, an android tablet. Total cost was well under $300, and it works perfectly.

The cheap DROs from Amazon actually work quite well (the stainless iGaging ones, with blue plastic bits) and are 100% worth the extra cost compared to the aluminum&black plastic ones.

I haven't implemented the arduino+android remote display yet, but I have a 7segment display project in the works.

This will help you with that forging
weg: That device is obsolete now. They replaced it with wizards.
frank: Wait a minute. There are more than one wizard? Is [are?] the wizard calibrated?
