so heres the deal... i want to build an ak. i have tons of ars and can assemble them all day but he ak is confusing to me.

basicly what i am looking for is;

i have a parts kit picked out, YOU tell me what other parts i need to buy. YOU also meet up with me sometime after the parts arrive and tell me step by step on how to finish it and put it all together. i am a hands on learner and it is the only way. YOU must also be around norcal so we can meet.

people who already have jigs and tools ready are front of the line.

in return for all this.. a case of beer of your choice, and a gift card for you and your wife at your favorite restaurant!

Most master builders and teachers worth their salt are in high demand and have people lined up to build with them weeks and months out. AK or AR.
You may get lucky and slip in on a cancellation if your in a hurry.

Ok lol a little different response than I expected.. Generally people involved in the same hobby like to help each other out and generally a case of beer is pretty good currency between friends. If someone in my area needed help assembling an ar 15 I would teach them for free (note I said teach not do it for them)... Why because 1: they need help, 2: we share interests, 3: I'm nice, and 4: most importantly, in a time where the more guns are in the hands of good law abiding citizens the better, I would help. Only defending my 2nd amendment right isn't enough, I want to defend others 2a rights also. And toe part of that means if you are. Law abiding citizen, you should have as many guns as you can; and if I can help that I would.

Now if you guys don't have anything nice to say it's still welcome because on my country you have the freedom to say whatever you want.

So if there is any one who has experience in the platform and can spare a Saturday to throw a few back in a garage while enjoying a common hobby, and would let me buy him and his significant other a nice relaxing dinner so they can finish the day off strong. Let me know. Thanks

what you aren't understanding is that builders have invested a lot of time and money into crafting their experience, no one is going to give that away for some beer (assuming they even like beer) or a gift card. want something? no one will be forming a line to help you bud. you gotta pay to play. you can't go around with that kind of attitude either, be a little more humble in your approach, it won't hurt and will get you more places.

if you really want to build your AK on the cheap, watch vids on YouTube and you won't have to buy beer!

You need to realize that building an AK is about 40x to 50x the work of assembling an AR and also requires at least 10x the tooling investment than it would take to assemble an AR.

So, while a case of beer is appropriate to helping someone learn to assemble an AR, you should be thinking about 40 cases of beer as appropriate trade fodder for teaching you to build your AK.

You are basically comparing asking someone to help you change a tire with asking someone to rebuild your small block chevy 350.

Your post came off kind of cocky I am guessing you didn't intend for it to because you are not that familiar with the AK building process.

Just to let you know it takes about 8+ hours of someones time and a truckload of tools. So that is why you got the responses you did.

Here is a link to check out the first 2 posts contain ALL the CA and 922(r) compliance parts on a shopping list and it has links to get you familiar with the building process. Most Builders only like to help people that have a healthy understanding/respect for what it takes to build an AK.

So heres the deal..... Go back and read your original post,
It sure sounds like you are very demanding!
Its all in your approach, there are lots of master builders that would be willing to help you but it should be on thier terms not yours!
you need to reasearch your venture a little more in depth before jumping into the fire.
It takes a vast amount of the proper tools, equipment and knowledge to build an Ak correctly. I realize we must all start somewhere but you need to polish your pr skills. Show a lil class and respect and you might get someone to help you.
