Is it worth it??? 80% .308

Man im bummed at the recent news... I just picked up a 80% thats being delivered in December and now with the recent news.. many places can't help me with the build. Im almost tempted to purchase a .308 receiver online thru my FFL guy. All in im looking at 350-340 shipped... http://www.tombstonetactical.com/cat...lack-stripped/

Should I go this route and just buy one and have it in a matter of 2 weeks or wait for my 80% receiver to arrive and try to do it myself with a jig? Seems easy enough. Too bad I don't have a mill or drill press. So I will have to find some that has one.

Cost wise it would be about the same. I can get 80% lowers Anodized for about 165 shipped. Now I have to purchase a jig 140-150 and then machine it myself. Now it seems like a big hassle to go this route.

    What should I do??

You are the only one who can weigh the costs and effort required, and then decide which option makes more sense for you.

This kind of thing is what is screwing up the 80% thing. You have to do the work yourself no matter what! it just might be on lesser equipment now.

Thanks for your response... to me it's a question of availability... not a philosophical one.

If it were me in your shoes, I'd go BOTH routes. You have till the New Year to get a .308 lower prior to long gun registration, and then you can finish the 80% whenever the opportunity presents itself. And believe me, the opportunity will return. People may be scared right now, but the legal boundary will be rediscovered and people will get right back to making 80%s.

the DPMS stripped lower you picked is not calif legal.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

Because it's a named receiver on the B appendix list DPMS Panther (ALL)

It's easy to complete them with out a Cnc machine! Do it the way they were intended. That's what a jig is for! Cnc is fast but you won't get the satisfaction as if you were doing it by hand.

Im just wondering how complicated/difficult it is to machine it yourself. I see people around here loaning out jigs so thats not the problem. My friend has a drill press so that may be the route I take if I decided to go the 80% route.

Im just scared of messing it up.
