I've done a few ARs; want to do a 1911 next.

I started with an AK, now I have parts inbound for doing an AR. Do whatever interests you, in the end its only money, they print it every dayComment

The primary reason to complete an 80% receiver is to build something that the laws would otherwise not allow you to buy.
For example, a widebody 1911 frame or an AR pistol.
You will not find those guns on the "safe handgun roster" list for simple purchase from a dealer.
You can legally manufacture your own versions of them though.
I don't see any advantage to completing an 80% receiver for a rifle where you could buy a 100% complete receiver which will usually give you a better quality end product for similar or even less money than it would cost you to complete an 80% version of the same gun.Randall Rausch

The M1911 80% you bought....
Was it actually a P13 or P14? Basically a 1911 but with a wider handle that holds 10 rounds I think.
I've seen the P-13 (or 14) 80% for sale at gun shows but I've never seen a classic M1911. I've been looking.
Just curious if someone is now making them.Comment
