I do a lot of TIG welding and always wondered if I could use the argon to prevent carbon buildup. MAN is it expensive though! Argon must be made of gold. How much argon does it take?

I just need to figure out to seal the door better and how much gas pressure to keep up with the leaks...
You could always light up a piece of paper and seal it up in stainless foil wrap. The paper will burn up the oxygen and that will help kill the oxides. I've used high heat fiberglass seals with some of the equipment I've installed. I know the old stuff was asbestos. Also there's some black caulking that's rated for 2500f I used on some industrial boiler flue. That'll work for everything but the door. It gets hard when it cures. I'll try to look it up and send you a link.
Argon is pretty cheap, I get my 120cf tank filled for 40$.
There are 3 kinds of people in this world.
The wise, learn from the mistakes of others.
The smart, learn from their own mistakes.
The others, well......they just never learn.
