Just about to pull the trigger on a kit and wanted to know which Flat to buy - They list two on the related product page.

Polish 7.62x39 Fixed Stock Parts Kit

Standard AK47 Fixed Stock 7.62 Flat

AK47 7.62 Flat With Trunnion Holes

Either will work. The one with holes will speed up the build process if they line up correctly. I would guess since your buying a Polish kit, the holes should resonably line up well.

AK Flat Question

I'm helping a guy build up a fixed stock polish kit right now.
We just bent and heat treated the receiver.



We are also doing a Yugoslav kit at the same time.
I installed spacers in the receivers before we heat treated them so they would not move around during heat treating.

Yes.
Those screws are holding the spacers in the flat during full heat treating to ensure the flat stays straight while its hot.



The top picture above shows them after they are done.
Now that the flats are heat treated, the trunions can be riveted into place...

It's a paragon knife making kiln.
Programmable ramp/hold controller too so all I do is select the program, load parts and let it run.
The alarm goes off when it's time to pull parts and quench.

Seriously, if your not heat treating your receiver just forgo the kit and buy an actual pre-made receiver.

If you don't want to fool with heat treating do an HK roller lock, I am doing two right now and they don't require it.

Seriously, if your not heat treating your receiver just forgo the kit and buy an actual pre-made receiver.

If you don't want to fool with heat treating do an HK roller lock, I am doing two right now and they don't require it.

I paid $450 for mine on ebay, but they are around $1200 new...
Make sure you get a big enough firebox for whatever you want to fit in there.
I can only fit two ak receivers at a time.
I set the bottom one corner-corner and then stand up those 2" tall kiln blocks so the other one crosses the lower one.
From overhead, the receivers make an "X" inside the firebox.
They clear the corners of the firebox by about 1/2" on all sides.

My kiln has a spot to install a purge line.
I just need to figure out to seal the door better and how much gas pressure to keep up with the leaks...
