    Semi-auto(psy)

Went out to ASR with some friends yesterday and took along my recently acquired Egyptian Rasheed carbine. About 25 rounds in it happened....KABOOM!....F**k I haven't got a scratch on me. The rifle on the other hand, wasn't so lucky.

We beat the action open and found this.

Here's the confusing part. Hmm....That looks like the end of a bullet in there.

The magazine was split up the side and we found the mangled floor plate about 30ft away.(pics to come)

Bottom metal blown all out of wack and the stock was split from the wrist to the forearm.

It even blew the charging handle detent back in past the retaining pin and froze it there.

The whole assembly literally fell out of the CH slot which was also blown out of shape. Check it out next to my straight edge.

Well at least it wasn't something rare where they only imported 1500 of them....oh wait yeah it is

Here's what came out of the barrel...sure as sh*t it's the hollow a** end of the bullet.

So....anybody have an idea how the hell this all happened?

Dude that effn blows, such a cool piece of history only to blow up like that. Did it sound ok before she blew?
I'm thinking it didn't go into battery completly and that unsupported area let loose. Was the action hanging up at all, did you check headspace?

It had been running great. Headspace is good(even now). When the bolt is fully locked the carrier has to travel a further 1/4" to clear the firing pin so it can be struck by the hammer. This thing CAN'T fire out of battery.

It's the partial bullet jacket that was left in the throat that has me confused. I'm really thinking it may have been an overcharge or something. I'm going to pull down the rest of the box of ammo and weigh/inspect all the components. I don't expect the folks at Fiocchi are gonna offer to buy me a new(old) gun or anything but it would be nice if I could nail down the cause. I've never seen half a jacket left in the barrel before.

Any burrs in the chamber, perhaps a defective case, I dunno man pretty tough to troubleshoot 500 miles away.

No burrs that I can see. There's some pitting, but nothing ridiculous. I've seen worse. I'm going to find someone to inspect it that has better tools than just my two eyeballs. A bad case is certainly a possibility though. It's happened to me before(hell...you were there).

Don't read Rasheed his last rights just yet Nico. I think I can resurrect this bad boy.....Provided I can get a professional to assure me there hasn't been any catastrophic damage to the barrel.

I want to see this thing resurrected. That sure is odd for the jacket to get stuck in the barrel like that.
