    Stuck casing and need help

Yesterday, I was shooting Tula 55gr non-lacquered steel case through my AR (5.56 chrome lined chamber) and I got a failure to extract. I tried pushing it out with a wooden dowel, a cleaning rod, and a steel rod, without success. I sprayed some Ballisol down the barrel and let it hang barrel up for a 4 or 5 hours, and then sprayed some more Ballistol into the end of the chamber and let it hang for another 4 hours. Then I tried punching the casing out again but still didn't have any luck.

I don't have very many rounds through the gun, maybe 145 at the most. Up until the last 25 steel cased rounds, the rest have been brass cased. I haven't given the chamber a very thorough cleaning, and someone suggested that may have caused to the casing to get stuck.

My dad recommended a good local gunsmith, but I would prefer to get it out as cheap as possible.

Cleaning rod+ rubber mallet. Tap it out.

Don't shoot steel cased through AR's, only AK variants...

False. A good upper will eat steel cased just fine.

Soak it with "Liquid Wrench" overnight and then tap it out with a dowel and mallet.

            1. This is empty brass, not a live round.
            2. Remove the bolt from the rifle.
            3. Go to Ace Hardware.
            4. Purchase a Solid Brass rod. Largest diameter they have that will fit inside your expended brass.
            5. Slide rod down the barrel, place the butt of the rifle on the floor.
            6. Trim rod so that there is no more than about 3" sticking out of the barrel.
            7. Smack the trimmed solid brass rod firmly with a hammer.
            8. I did not say girly tap it, HIT IT.

If millions of uppers didn't run steel fine, it wouldn't sell so well.

i get them stuck in mine ive come to the conclusion it is a build up of powder residue that blows by the steel brass expands and makes a better seal

i guess i should pull some of the russian and load its powder into a brass case and see what happens i'm sure smelling different is not its only attribute

This. Had it happen to me. Couldn't get it out until we used a solid, thick rod and some solid hits with a hammer.

I always figured it was the lacquered coating on the case that burns/builds up in the chamber that causes it. Some guns will run it and some won't. I only run steel cases in my AK's and my 1919 now.

They don't use laquer any more.

Never, ever use a wood dowel.

They splinter part way down the barrel and then you add a bore full of wood to the problem.
