    AR trigger...binding?

So, I was shooting my Franklin lower yesterday with several uppers and after about 50 rounds I started having an issue with the trigger. After two shots, the trigger would not pull. I cleared the gun and re-loaded. Same problem, two shots and the trigger would not pull. I did this several times then I noticed after the second shot with the trigger stuck, I would put the "safety on" to clear the gun, I noticed a click. I put the gun back to "fire" position and the gun fired...for two shots then the same problem occured.

Any ideas what is causing this?

I purchased it as a built lower that is still under warranty so I'm not going to take it apart if I can help it. I couldn't see any issues by dry fireing the gun or with the lower by itself.

I'm a little new to AR's. If this was an AK I would look at the hammer spring shifting.

The platform is so easy to work on… just take apart the FCG and inspect…

Check the springs to make sure they are installed correctly.
Check to make sure none of the pins themselves are broken.
Disconnector and spring installed correctly to allow the trigger to reset

After a few shots and the problem, are you sure it’s not due to the upper short stroking and not resetting the trigger?

Did it feed a live around into the chamber for the next shot when you had a malfunction?

Was this a common problem with one or all the uppers you were shooting?

If its not chambering could be the gas system. Or the small pins are backwards. Did you chop the springs?

        Good questions,

        Springs appear correct
        pins are good
short stroking is not the problem, (the gun fires normally after moving from safe to fire)
        feeds properly
I also used a buddies lower on my upper that day and had no issues.
I might take the FCG apart only because I'm perplexed by the problem. It appears to function as expected without the upper. I have several lowers and it appear no different then the others.

I think your sear spring may be upside down. The larger side faces downward.
Here is a link to an install video. If that is not the problem, pull the charging handle back, dry fire by pulling the trigger, and repeat as necessary until the problem occurs. Separate the upper from lower and see where it's binding.

Sounds like your disconnector is not disconnecting properly. Putting the safety on fixes it because it pushes down on the rear of the trigger resetting it and allowing the disconnector to release the hammer.

I think this is the problem. After looking at the vidio Moneyshot left, I believe this is the issue. If I have time I'll break it down tonight and compare with a new set of FCG I have.

This is most likely what is happening.
