    Upper and Lower not fitting

I just got a Stag 2h upper at the Del Mar gun show. My problem is that when I put the upper and lower the pivot pin goes in fine, however, the upper wont seat all the way down so I can close the extended take down pin. Please help.

you may have the buffer tube assembly screwed in too tight to allow the aft end of the upper to seat properly. try backing the buffer tube out a turn. hope that helps.

maybe this is too basic, but is your dust cover closed?

Tube is good... If I undid both pins and put the upper on it would fit, as soon as I closed the pivot pin then the upper will not close all the way. Thanks for the advice.

I tried just pushing the upper down as hard as I could and I got it to seat. Had to tap the takedown pin with a rubber mallet to get it to close (that advice came from ar15.com).

If the take down pin is that difficult to get in then you might wanna put some CLP on it and try working it back and forth to loosen it up a little.

Please explain how this affects assembly.

I had this problem and like the guy said a few posts before you might have put the buffer tube too far into the lower receiver. Before you backout the tube make sure the spring and the buffer holding thingy doesn't shoot out.

I've had the same problem, but when I loosened the buffer tube, it didn't keep the buffer spring retaining pin in. I ended up filing the exposed part of the buffer tube down until I could close it.

I actually kind of like the ultra-tight fit, though. The weapon feels solid like one piece, rather than two held together by little pins.
