    ak47 ejection problem???

I had a friends ak eject just the last 1/2" of the shell and left the rest in the chamber? This was so weird and I'm not sure why it did this?? Anyone have any ideas, I was using Yugo 67 surplus ammo. I took it to a gunsmith to see if he could get this out. Was this just a bad round and does this happen a lot?

Is that what the shell extractors I see being sold in gun mags are for?

    Thanks,

IIRC Yugo ammo is corrosive, so I assume you have shot previously, but you didn't clean it out thoroughly. Remove the gas block and clean it out as well as the barrel's gas port.

Sounds like brass case after laquered ammo situation. Get a torch or heat gun and heat up the chamber area and that should help get what's left of the case un-stuck.

Get yourself a Broken Shell Extractor and save some money on going to a 'smith. I used to get that a lot when I shoot laquered stuff and not clean my chamber.

Great thanks. Is this normal for shells to do this? Its a new gun and has had no lacquered ammo go though it or corrosive ammo yet. I sent it to a gunsmith as I wanted to make sure that this was not caused by the gun, it seems like it would be the ammo though. I'm just shooting the Yugo 67 stuff right now as its the only cheap range friendly stuff I can find. If I do find steel case that I can shoot how do you clean the cooked lacquer out of your chamber?

There could be another issue if it's a new gun. If the headspace or chamber is out-of-spec it could cause broken brass case. Go to the desert and shoot steel case bi-metal. My 2 cents

It is a new gun, kit build, but not sure what kind of barrel. Think its a US barrel so maybe the chamber is bad? How would the head spacing cause a shell to blow in half and just eject about a 1/2" of the shell?
