Its fixable but hell man you just spent 65 bucks to get professional results right? Take it back! Ask for a new one and the cost of the coating. If I ever have someones lower come out screwy I replace it. My job is to double check their set up. It's my fault as much as theirs if it's wrong. If you end up doing another pm Jimi he won't let you down.Comment

You could also PM Roccobro. He guarantees his work, if its messed up he will fix it. He is in San Bernardino and is set up for Quentin Defense and TM 80%s.Originally posted by MilkSteakIm really hoping that if its not repaired to a standard im completely comfortable with I can work something out with them.
And yea, I plan on doing at least 2 more 80% builds, where is Jimi located?HM2(FMF) Earl

just use a grinder like this 2012-12-06_13-41-16_639.jpg
as you can see fired about 1000 rnd no problem i since put it back on the mill to correct it but if you dont have access to a mill just grind it up. and as for the back looks like you have to cut more. i had problems where diffret types of upper did not fit

Looks like some people have had some sub-par machining work done on their 80's. Not really worth buying an 80% if you can't fire it after having someone mill it. Using dremels and grinders shouldn't be required AFTER you have it CNC machined. From what I can tell in the photo is that the offset in the machine was off by about .06" or it wasn't loaded correctly. Either way it should have never happened. I feel like Ares should be accountable for either having the machine set up wrong or not double checking someones part in the machine. It seems they care more about getting people in and out than they do about having quality work leave their facility. I understand that nobody is perfect but .06" is a lot when it comes to machining (this isn't carpentry). "Knock on wood" but I haven't had any issues with the lowers machined on my CNC because I set the machine up so it's fool proof and double check every set up someone loads in the machine.
I am in the central San Diego area and will do build parties every other month or so depending on demand.

I had a similar situation where the jig was off. If i brought a trigger kit and upper to test the fit before leaving I would have been better off but i painted it and found out later that it needed some modification. Tape off the edges and outside with painters tape and use a dremel to made the adjustments so the parts fit and function. When its assembled you can't see the inside, and besides its an 80% custom home build so who cares if it isn't perfect, it should still shoot. Just watch the areas where the pins and detent sit because if you get too close you'll break through and have a whole new issue to deal with. Go slow with the dremel and check offen to see if it fits so you don't take too much off! You should be ok.Comment

Come on Yari, you haven't had to replace any lowers....Jimi and Yari's machine is the only one I will use to mill lowers. I've done more than a few and the results are exact. Jimi I would like to attend your next build party, when is it scheduled? Also what do you charge for the use of your CNC? If you could PM me with details that would be great.Looks like some people have had some sub-par machining work done on their 80's.
