stripping off duracoat?

how do i strip the duracoat off a upper receiver? i hear paint stripper, but on someones opinion, they said that it will ruin it if its aluminum.

anyone know if its true?

OR is there anyone here that can remove it?

OR just to make things simpler, where can i purchase a non duracoated upper receiver?

the upper at the bottom is the one im trying to strip. are you interested in trading for that?

No standard paint stripper should attack aluminum. Just try 1st in an "inconspicuous" place.

I agree try it yourself first if you not happy, I have a few flat top uppers as well as a few a2's. Just let me know.

Wait, was that upper actually DuraCoated or is it the factory finish?

What are you meaning by DuraCoat? Duracoat is a very specific brand of finish. Most ARs do not use it.

Is there a reason you want an unfinished upper?

Al scratches and wears easily if it isn't finished

i just got done w/ a 80% lower and i like how it has a stainless look to it. or maybe just put a clear finish to it.

That lower on the bottom looks like grey/black annodize. No stripper is going to get that off. You would have to media blast it.

Norrell's has a stainless color you could use on both if you really really want.

You can duracoat or anodize to a sheen. Doesn't make a very stealthy rifle.

Maybe you should just get them nickel plated.
