Seriously? Good carbide tools with lube will cut through the hardened shell with no issues at all. Now trying that with whatever comes with the AK-Builder kit is another thing.

Not everyone has carbide tooling. And yes carbide will blow right through it. But HSS will do it once maybe twice before becoming dull.
And Being a MAchinist toolmaker I was taught never to abuse my tooling so that's why the reaction.

If you have carbide go for it.
