I think the owners should have supplied replacement front sights, anyhow I've wondered how recycling the dimpled components would look and now I know. I prefer flush cut shrouds On the factory saiga sights but it's give and take. An inch of threads can't always be used.. Thanks for the threads I like reading them and the pics. It takes time and I appreciate it.

I've recycled plenty of the dimpled saiga parts and they look fine after welding, cleaning, and blasting. It's really the customers choice, they go cheap on parts but have to pay extra labor, or pay for the part and it only takes 5 mins to install.

Customer choice. They did not want to pay to weld them up.

It killed me to see stuff like that walk out but labor aint free and they made the choice.

I've refused work because someone wanted crap like that. I try to give the customer the choice on a lot of stuff but there are somethings i will not let leave the shop with my name associated with it.

The comment on Labor not being free. It's funny though how many people think it is.

I would agree, but if you are in business and a customer requests a service and asked to save money as a business I make the choice and here is how I come to my decision

Is it safe - 3mm pins installed
Does it function as intended by the manufacturer = Yes
Will both parties walk away hole = Yes

At this point performing the service and keeping a customer is the correct course of action. In the end he may bring the rifle back when he has the funds to do the final fill and then Blast Park Duracoat the rifle.

I do not let my personal opinion dictate customer wants or interpreted needs. I do not like Tapco, UTG, Nc-Star, AR mag adapters, etc but I do install the product on request from the customer. For that matter I think threading a AK100 series rifle 14LH threads is retarded and I really think putting a Surfire comp, or any other comp built for a AR adapted to a AK is Partial Birth ABORTION. I think if you want a F*cking AR buy a AR platform and be Tacticool Ninja. I think AK's are beautiful military rifle and should be left as so. If you want a Comp/FH then go with a true AK74 front site block and break. It is the most effective device for the AK platform hell it is awesome on the AR platform.

I am in a customer service based business and the customers perception is his reality. Al long as it is Safe - Legal - Functions as Intended it can be done.

Will I cringe at the sight of those holes or something else not up to my standard, yep.

I am happy that your business is doing well that you can pass on services. I am growing and would like to work with individuals long term to see there vision of what they want.

Now I do not think my work is half *** and I do take offense to the comment. I'm pretty darn good at what I do and the people I do it for do come back.

I can give a rats *** what one wants on there rifle and I like being the guy that will cater to a small guy as well as the guy will to drop 20k on a MP5 or M16.
