    Bending a flat

So I bought a "romanian" pistol kit from an ak files member.

I want to bend a flat from akbuilder...what flat do I buy? What else will I need for the flat?

What rivet set would you buy? I'll need a retaining plate, FCG.

What do people use to plug the back of the receiver where the rear trunnion goes in?

If this is your first build I would suggest waiting for a build party. You need a shop press, the ak builder barrel press kit, welder, dremel and bending die. If you haven't already done so read 69mach1 sticky on building up a parts kit.

I think this is flat you need - http://ak-builder.com/index.php?disp...ategory_id=180. You will also need the center support.

If you call up Curtis (I think) at AKbuilder he will help you sort it all out.

Personally I like using an underfolder rear trunnion in a flat with un drilled trunnion holes.

Since the flat isn't cut for an underfolder, it has clearly never had a stock attached and it's more AKish to me than welding in a plate or using a US made pistol trunnion.

Of course the other options work, I just like that way.

Which flat you need will depend on what kind of rear trunnion you intend to use. What are you working with?

Those kits have a modified rear fixed stock trunion with a plate on it to close up the back

            Regular romy flat will work

I seen the kits on AKfiles, they have the trunion. And if not you can get one from AK-builder.com

or 2 Russian Army armorers will bend the flat into shape with their bare hands, set the rivets with their teeth and cut the threads with their fingernails.

Just have to find some in your area

Do you have to put any markings on a bent flat when it's a home build??

                          Cool, thanks.

What I got from that is you don't have to put anything on it legally...unless you want to sell it.
