      1919 build

      [QUOTE=DRH;999661]Cactus,

      The 1919 is like a gateway drug to bigger and more expensive builds. You are better off buying another garand or M1 carbine. Once you start building guns, just buying them does not have the same appeal that it used to. At that point it will be too late to turn back as the addiction will have overtaken your will power. I wish someone had warned me before it was too late.[/QUOTE

      this is very true! i am currently looking for two 1919-a4 parts kits to order, and am thinking about collecting parts for a m2hb .50bmg semi build.

          1919a4 kits

          here is a group buy on the kits he might have some left

          The kit deal is going to be a go. Kits will be ready to ship by the end of March. I have inspected the kits and the trunnions are exellent and the bottom plates don't look like they have been riveted. All parts are good or better. All have sights and barrels. 308 caliber. They have left sideplate attached to the bottom plate.

          Will email everyone on the list when they are ready to ship. Looks like they will be about 360-365 plus shipping to your location.
          Thanks to everyone.

            I wonder if Tapco still sells their plate..
            It shoud pass ATF muster, since it, in true Tapco fasion, is more like a 65% plate (trigger box slot uncut, semi bar at a weird dimension (needs mlling), several additional holes too small or un-drilled (esp. pinttle hole).

            the only problem with a 1919 now is there is no more ammo to feed it cheaply. I fondly remember the 1919A4 So Cal shoots when ammo was around $0.10 / shot in .308!
            Then only 8mm was cheap.. NOW, you may as well build a .30-06 gun.

              Dave thanks for the info I found my kit. Also as the last thread said with the price of ammo id like to convert this thing to 30 06. Does any one have any experience with this ( the conversion from 308 to 30 06 ) and can some one tell me the required parts.

                308 to 30-06 very easy

                What do I need to swap calibers from .308 to 30-06?

                Change the barrel, replace the .308 booster with .30-06 booster, remove the trunnion spacer and headspace the rifle.

                Also, remove the left rear cartridge spacer and check to see that the right front stop positions the bullet so the cartridge is parallel with the chamber

                wolf ammo was 189.00 for 1000 rounds shipped ( still not .10 a round like before )

                    Yep- start with the .308 gun, then you can run .308, 8mm, and .30-06 with just a barrel and booster swap, and cartridge spacer swap (removal in the case of the .30-06).
