    80% Questions

First off, from what I've read, if I got an 80% and finished it, it doesnt need to be registered? If that's the case can you guys please tell me what's nearby to the San Fernando Valley?

I would like to get in on a build party are there any going on out nearby?

Is there a decent anodizing shop out near SFV/LA?

    Does anyone have a jig?

Are jigs pretty much made for a certain brand of lower?

For ARs I recommend buying a pre-anodized 80% and hold out for a good CNC build party.

Up here, I'm lucky with several build party options, including doing it on a manual milling machine if I have to. CNC is by far the best option and it's hard to find a plating shop with an FFL who would do type II hard anodizing on a completed 80% lower.

The best way to do it is to find a good CNC build party and buy an 80% that is known good, that will eliminate any surprises.

What are some of the better brands of lower?

      Are jigs somewhat universal?

Find a build party and ask them.

Most 80% start as the same raw forging so the exteriors are similar but there may be differences and I've seen some with dimpled FCG holes that don't quite line up with the popular jigs.

The people running the party made the CNC code for one specific 80%. If you buy one that is slightly different, there is a chance that something might be off.

Buy an 80% that is known good at your build party.
