High-quality AK-Builder romanian 7.62 rpk receiver flat 1.5mm made in the USA. Precision fit and finish for professional builds.

They're out of stock right now, shouldn't be more than 2-3 weeks for them to be back in stock. And yes, it takes AK mags.

The blanks come from Montana Rifleman, but he finishes them in-house. And yeah, Montana Rifleman makes great barrels. Most of the barrels on my AKs are from Arms of America (so they're made by Montana Rifleman), and I couldn't be happier. I actually prefer them to the Romanian virgin barrels (they tend to be more accurate than the Romanian ones, and nitriding takes care of the surface treatment).

How do you tell if your gas block is worn out? First I've heard of this problem.

Do the AK Builder flats work well? I notice they do not have mag dimples, does this matter?
Who sells the barrels for these kits that are chromed?

They aren't supposed to have dimples - they're 1.5mm thick, so there's less space inside the receiver. The mags are held by the small dimples on the rails (the rails that come with those flats aren't the regular AK rails). And yes, they work very well, AK-builder flats usually do.

I haven't seen chrome-lined barrels for them. AK-builder is pretty much the only game in town for barrels right now (the ones Apex sells are AK-builder's, as well). However, you can nitride them instead, and get likely better accuracy (it's pretty hard to get consistent chrome lining, while nitriding doesn't have that problems) and actually harder surface. Not to mention that you get the whole barrel treated, not just the bore. And who can say no to this beautiful black color

I noticed the NDS receivers have mag dimples and are fully heat treated. Anyone with feedback on comparing flat vs NDS??

Of the dozen RPK barrel pops I did one weekend, only ONE kit was out of spec from the other 11. Looked like a well loved kit ans ALL parts journals were .0015-.002" larger than the other kits.

Of the 15 barrels I had on hand, only ONE had a single journal .0005" larger than the others. All others were dead on to the next.

Full heat treat is an under $30 proposition if you feel so inclined. NDS isn't using any super proprietary steels or processes. You can fold your own and just harden and draw back the hardness of the axis pin holes and be done with it, or a full harden and temper to around 40-42 HRC and replicate what NDS is doing. If you fold and spot weld your own rails, checking your rails are square and plumb and filing only what you need to from the tip of the ejector, you will probably not have an ejector that is too short.
