    Source for 80% AR lowers

I was wondering who you like for a good price on 80% lowers.

    $130 at ww.ar15plus.com
    $130 at www.tanneryshop.com

Where else should I be looking for a 7075 80% complete forging?

William at the tannery shop is superb...though he may occasionally be gone for a while.

Why are you considering an 80% part when you can get a finished one for about the same money??

True wealth is time. Time to enjoy life.

Life's journey is not to arrive safely in a well preserved body, but rather to slide in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "holy schit...what a ride"!!

So I don't have to hassle with DROS of a pistol lower eating one of my "1 handgun per 30 days" slots.
I have a single shot 1911 coming in right now and want to get my single shot STI frame after that.

          That's a 0% forging.

That link seems to go to the same people as ar15plus.com does...

I have the CNC guns receiver block and all the other tools to do it.
I just bore the buffer tube hole with a boring head in the mill before tapping them.
No need to ream, but thanks for the offer.

I have helped other people finish out a few 80% lowers, I just don't have one of my own.

Use ar15plus, just remember the buffer tube threads have to be timed. The nice thing is the front pivot pin location is in the right place and everything locates off it and the centerline of the receiver.

I guess if you do a piston upper it won't matter.

What does a piston upper have to do with it?
They stull use a buffer tube, buffer and spring.

I don't believe that there is actually any requirement to time the threads.

I have never heard of timing the threads as there are multiple manners to adjust the protrusion of the buffer tube to retain the buffer detent.
First, I'm using an entry tube, which stops against the shoulder.
The length of the thread protrusion into the lower is absolutely fixed and the tube just tightens into place.
Timing does not matter to A1/A2 or Entry buffer tubes.
Second, on carbine buffer tubes with a lockplate and castle nut, there is usually a little tab that retains the buffer detent from the side so that the thread timing is not necessary as long as you are at the right place before you tighten the castle nut.

You sure they were 80% finished forgings?
I did not see any that cheap.
I saw 0% forgings for that price though.
