80% TM lower advice needed.

i have an 80% TM lower that i believe is out of spec. my ace buffer tube will not screw in. i have 2 TM lowers and the buffer tube will not fit in either one. it did fit on my spikes lower though. a normal mil spec carbine buffer tube works with my TM lowers.

what should i do from this point?

Any chance the threads are just mucked up ? Possibly just needs to be re-tapped to clean up the threads. If it's anodized it'll be tough on the tap, though.

Use a 1-3/16" x 16 tap and clean up the threads. I had the same problems with 2 TM 80% lowers. More than likely that the tap used was worn and went just slightly undersize.

Have the same issue with my TM and Quieten Defense 80%. For some reason the RRA fits fine. I was at Parallax Tactical looking at the ACE Entry stock and brought my lower to check fit, the ACE wouldn't fit as well as a standard A2 extension. Joe let me switch the RRA extension for the ACE.

Anxious to see what it was. I have a TM as well but it's bare. Milspec parts fit fine on mine. Been debating on leaving internal unpainted.

Having sold and machined hundreds of TM's 80%'s, I've only encountered this complaint twice. One was after anodizing, so the main culprit is unkown there. The other was an easy fix.

Having said that, TM believed they had a problem with about 100 pieces mid last year when contacted by the second guest. Nathan said they will never use another chinese made tap as they just don't last and offered to send him a new one. If you contact him he will make it right. The customer with the tightness problem found his TUBES were out of spec (but of great quality brand). He just swapped to another brand of tube from the LGS and we didn't chase his threads.

Like others have offered, if your in my area we can chase it for free and test against several brands of tubes as well.

I've only used it once to make my 0% single shot lower for the 50 (yup, no magwel).
