This problem would manifest slightly later in the feed cycle. OPs round is not coming up far enough on the feed ramp to "make the turn" into the chamber. It sure sounds like a magazine problem.

What brand mags? Did you disassemble them?

I had this problem as well on a new 1911. After about 500 rounds things seemed to loosen up and start working together. Also, are you using factory ammo or reloads? If it is reloads that could be your problem.

No I did not take the mags apart. I bought a new mag after I left the range. I tried all three mags same problem. It's funny, it functioned perfectly at the range. I have one round that did get set back, but it is not pictured. The ammo is all factory.
The mags are: 1 Kimber and 2 Springfield armory.
There are 7rounds in each mag.

Many threads here on this....usually the fix is new magazine or mag springs.
(Hint: if you are handy, you can probably bend the current mag spring top loop in such a way to cause the front of the follower to rise higher, which will often fix this problem).

Yes, the brass round looks like it has set-back.

            again.
What Ojisan Said! Take the mag out, the top bullet should be sticking up, not down in the mag. Push the front of the bullet up so it runs parrallel to the top of the mag. Insert mag, rack pistol. Did it load properly?

My Sig 1911 mags did the same thing, first few mags were fine then a couple of what you experience but only with the first round which is the hardest for it to stip as the spring is at it's highest tension.

Get some decent mags, Chip McCormick, Tripp Research, Wilson Combat, etc.

Also, it is recommended for the first 250-350ish rounds, not to use hollow points as these do catch more easily that FMJ's on the feed ramps. A 1911 needs to be broken in/fitted by use. Shoot a few 100 FMJs thru it and you will find it really does smooth out.

Is this the same ammo you shot previously?

I think someone else pointed it out, the point of the bullet is pointing down and can't feed.

I shot the same at the range. But funny thing, I tried it again today and the ball rounds loaded, but the speer still did not work. Only question is why it worked now and not the other day. Short of swapping out the second pressed in round, I did nothing differently.

I looked at the mag that was in picture and the round was pushed in a litlle, not much. That was two rounds that were pushed in.

But okay, I will shoot a few hundred more and see how it goes. And I will wait for the Speer.

                  Thanks for all the help.
