    Crash Course in Milling

I just bought a matched set of 6” vises from Glacern, check out these 9 videos they have on a "Crash Course in Milling". Even an old hand might learn something. Very well done videos.

Glacern Machine Tools manufacturers CNC Machine Vises, Precision Tool Holders, and Indexable Milling Cutters for vertical and horizontal cnc milling machines.

I just recently found those videos on youtube. Very informative for a noob like me getting ready to start learning to use a milling machine.

nice tools. I bet a lot of those tools and vises cost more than the whole mill I will be buying.

It's cool to see technology like that.

Glacern = Taiwanese made vises. They are still very nice vises. Personally, I prefer the 4" vises.

Did you find out what was causing the Z plane variation on your mill?

The two vises I just bought cost more than my first mill.

Actually as far as I know, based on a bunch of conversations over at HMEM and PM they are Taiwanese castings that are finish milled over here. Certainly a lot of their tooling is made stateside right here in SoCal. Good folks.

ott1, please do not post things as fact without knowing what you are talking about.

Sol at Glacern is a great guy. Very easy to work with, great products and does not inflate his prices like Kurt. I run all Glacern vices and drill chucks, and plan to buy quite a bit more when we expand. Considering they are local makes it even better.
