Build idea, AR PISTOL

Okay, plan on building my own lower with an 80%. Already bought 2, but none are machined yet.

Heres my idea so far, a 7" 9mm blowback pistol

80% lower, 80$
9mm 7 inch SS barrel 100$
9mm Ramped BCG 150$

After that I would put a carry handle and front sight post and it would look a little like this but in 9mm.



Is this a plausible build? Is there anything I should know about the 9mm bolt in a .223 upper? Also, I hate to sound stupid, but does the 9mm blowback system work pretty well? Is there any add ons to make it work?

Also, I know that stocks are a no no, is there any pistol buffers you guys recommend?

I would suggest a Spikes pistol buffer tube or a PWS enhanced pistol buffer tube. They both use standard carbine buffers and springs.

It seems like a 9mm kind of needs a shell deflector. I'm not sure about that because I haven't done a 9mm AR yet but since dedicated 9mm uppers with a big shell deflector exist, there is probably a reason.

I'll keep an eye out for the spikes tube.

As for the shell deflector, I read that usually to help left handed shooters and that if your right handed, it should not bother you. I might e wrong though.

Are you able to have a threaded barrel on a pistol ar?

Flowchart up top says no threads. You can pin and weld a muzzle attachment if you get a barrel with some.

That's not quite right. If the AR pistol has a bullet button it can have a threaded barrel and doesn't need to be pinned.

A normal AR pistol build will always need a bullet button under our current law, so threaded barrels are fine.

If you manage to build an AR pistol with the mag well in the pistol grip and no mag lock, then you would have to worry about threaded barrels, barrel shrouds and flash hiders.
