    Suomi M31 Build Tutorials?

I want to build one for my girlfriend seeing as she's Finnish. I've been Googling around and haven't really found anything on exactly how to go about building one or buying 922r parts for it. I'm looking for something along the lines of how the AK tutorial sticky is in this forum.

Can anyone here point me in the right direction?

And can someone explain to me how THIS does not require an FFL?

The receiver is not cut, just a metal tube.

      Very cool, looks featureless?

I'm in for a group buy, build party?

Ahh, I didn't notice that, thanks. I'd be interested in picking up one of those kits when they get them back in. I still think I'd like to do a demilled build because the kits are around $90 instead of $300.

The kits CFS is selling also have all the semiauto bolt and FCG work already done for you. There's a reason for the discrepancy in price. There's a big difference between converting a turn bolt gas gun to semi auto(AK build), and connverting an open bolt SMG.

Those kits are available at several places like Apex and I think MGS. I hope your girlfriend like heavy weaponry as the M31 is a beast. Made from an era when the intent wasn't to make them as cheap as possible where metal and wood were the only ingredients.

So what kind of difficulty level are we talking about here? I've built an AK with no problem. I know it'll be completely different converting an open bolt, but would it be too diffucult for a semi-beginner like me?

Do you have a lathe and a mill? Fairly extensive mods are required. I'm not sure exactly how they're going about it, but often the method is to turn the bolt down to a smaler diameter, mill the firing pin off the bolt face, bore it to accept a firing pin(or striker), modify the trigger mechanism. It's alot of work.

the kp44 (in keeping it finish)are cheaper kits ,a heck of alot lighter then the m31's and easier builds in my opinion, just use a win 1200 trigger group and drill bolt for firing pin and blocker bar...

not knocking the m31's as i want to build one also , but alot of work either re welding, or going with a reduced I/D tube like from HBA ... check out the weapons guild i am sure you will find what you need there ....

a suomi is a project and a tuff one for a beginner. i have built one before and in the middle of another so i should know how tuugh they are. the first one had a striker setup with the original charging handle. this one will have a sks trigger with a modified bolt for a ar15 firing pin and charging handle that is directly on the bolt. i would take pics of the one i have done already but i gave it to my dad. this pic is the one i'm in the process of doing although i haven't touched it in a year.. im trying to upload a pic but im running into some problems. its says pic has to many something another by 17.1 mega somethings. as soon as i figure it out i will post pics.
