First AK finally completed!

I assembled the second one, though I still need to put the muzzle on a little more but it is tight.

I finished my first and surely not my last AK! Thanks to everyone for your assistance. This has been an awesome learning experience.

Five months ago I was in the hospital, paralyzed and bed ridden from a tumor in my spine. That is when I first found the forum and read about building an AK. When you are in the hospital, there is little to keep you occupied and this forum has done that and more.

After what was a miracle surgery, and lots of physical therapy I was able to stand again and I began this project. It has become part of my recovery to get back to a productive normal life. Most days I did not want to get out of bed but what kept me moving forward was the time I would get to work on this project.

Thanks to everyone and I hope I can pay it forward to other members.

Thanks. I was really surprised how great the Brownells' Classic Blueing came out. It really is a nice looking finish. The pictures don't look half as good as it is in reality. I used 80 grit glass for blasting, which took some time but is really smooth, and then blued it twice. After oiling it went from a dark gunmetal to a black. The furniture is minwax red mahogany with poly finish.

Oh yeah and between applying the Blueing and boiling the parts I waited 48 hours which I think helped it get so dark.
