Got my Springfield 1911 Loaded back from Will's Gunsmithing!

I just came back from picking up my Springfield Armory Loaded 1911 from Will O' Hara. This is the second 1911 he's worked on for me and, as usual, he did a great job.

I had him do reliability package (check out the shiny ramp--mirror polish); an STI over-sized trigger fitted and set to 4.5 lbs.; front strap checkering job (30 l.p.i.); black oxide finish; and the final thing is Will creates a small groove on the slide release (groove marked with small arrow) and makes it easier to install without leaving "idiot marks." I couldnt' get a really good shot of the slide release as it is very small and I suck at camera photography.

The entire job cost me about $800 (parts and labor--includes sear, sear spring, and 17 lb. recoil spring). It took about six months to finish my gun. I told him not to worry about a rush job and I was paying in installments. I was finally able to pay off the balance last week and he finished it two days ago.

I haven't taken it shooting yet, but I'm sure it will work just fine. If anything doesn't work properly, Will will make it work...guaranteed. Also, he's a super nice guy!!

    Here's Will O'Hara's info:

Thanks. I am very pleased. Almost like getting a brand new Springer with the features I want on it.

Great checkering job. It looks machine cut. Did he do it on a mill?

I'll ask him the next time I see him. Good question.

            Looks really good.

Just curious, how long would it have taken Will to complete the job if you had paid in full up front? Would it still have taken quite awhile due to his schedule? Or would it have been a pretty quick turn around?

                0o0o0o0o a 1911 Smith close to Riverside!

Wow. $150 for a reliability package and about a 2-4 week turnaround. That is nice.

I was looking at a $250 and 6 month turnaround over here in Riverside..

Did you have any reliability issues with your 1911 before you took it to him?

What is a "reliability package" and why would a 1911 need one? Just wondering, not trolling.

Remember to dial 1 before 911.

Forget about stopping power. If you can't hit it, you can't stop it.
