whatever you do, dont clean it with powder blast. i read somewhere that hoppes is a lot easier on finishes and plastics, maybe try that.
powder blast will eat plastic, careful for your grips on those handguns as well!

Cool. It's all good. CheersFirst, I understand I made a mistake by not fully reading the label past the part that states "No Disassembly Required", my bad. Chalk it up to a learning experience. Also, I'm not looking for sympathy here just posting a warning to others so they don't make the same mistake.
Secondly, I accept the appology and I do not have delicate sensibilities, but it sure seems that often individuals post comments and questions and get flamed. Not that it isn't sometimes due, but when someone is trying to keep others from making the same mistake by inflecting their personel experience along comes those who just have to throw barbs at other members.

Anyone who ones a Mosin Nagant should know that ANY cleaner or solvent that touches the lacquer finish will strip it. This includes Gun Scrubber, brake cleaner, and rubbing alcohol. YES RUBBING ALCOHOL!
It is actually easy to strip the finish on a Mosin Nagant compared to Mausers or GarandsComment

Key ingredient is acetone. Acetone and polycarbonate lenses mix poorly. Don't make a $$$ mistake by accident.
Getting it on your hands is also not such a great idea. Sure, once or twice shouldn't be a problem, the old school guys will assure you of that. But why go old school when 100 nitrile gloves goes for $5.00. I like my internal organs healthy and intact. (I would rather pickle them with a good bourbon)
