    26" "Firearm" AK build?

    Alright, so in light of Franklin Armory's AR15 not a pistol, not a rifle, 26" AR with VFG (which I had the opportunity to fondle/molest at Olde West Gun and Loan in Redding yesterday: AWESOME), has anyone built an AMD-65 or Romy G along this pattern? Romy G with no stock and a AK74 type flash hider (permanently affixed) should meet the minimum overall length. An AMD with a 16" AKM barrel and the stock AMD flash hider should be A-OK (haha) without that crazy sidefolder. Am I missing something? A long barreled AMD or Romy pistol/rifle with VFG looks like it might be pretty fun... Especially the AMD.... What say you, Calguns?

      I think the AMD has a short gas system, with a long barrel it might be over gassed a bit, like a 16" AR15 with a CAR gas system when midlength would smooth things out a lot.

          Gotcha, maybe stock barrel/fake can? I'm just thinking that the long "pistol" plus VFG concept might be cool on an AK..... Do you think an AMD would look funky as a pistol with VFG?

              It would look normal because they came with a metal handguard with VFG before they got demilled. You just couldn't have a stock.

              A fake can might give it an interesting look.

              I'll just say that you have to make sure you get an ATF tech branch letter before you do this, you don't want them to decide it's an AOW and show up with the storm troopers.

                  An AK with no buttstock or brake and a 16" barrel is 25". You could use a regular amd brake.

                  Read this thread also. It says that in CA adding a vertical fore grip does not make it an AOW.
