I just bought a 92fs from a friend for $50(plus the $35 transfer fee). His wife put it into the toilet because she got pissed off at him. It was in the toilet for over 10 hours; while he was working. He didn't want it after it got wet , he is afraid to use it now. I have already field striped it and lubed it. Is there anything else I need to do before I take it to the range?

It's not a computer. Guns get wet. As long as all of the moving parts are dried and lubed and you might want to do some sort of rust prevention, it should be ok. I wouldn't (and I don't know if it is an issue) use any ammo that might have been in it at the time. -
Does it have any rust? I would probably not worry. Just take it to the range, put one round in it and pull the trigger with the gun far away from your body.
Regardless you got a great deal!Life is like having a map with precise directions and exact stops, you find out that your directions and stops change as you progress further down your original map.Comment

Blow it out as good as you can with an air compressor and hit it with CLP. These things were designed for worse treatment than that. A little toilet water isn't going to kill it.
After that, tell him to contact a divorce attorney.Comment

LOL I read the story as the wife got mad because her husband sold a 92fs for 50 bucks. I would too! Now I get it, heck does he have any other guns he wants to throw away when they get wet?
In all seriousness, the gun should be fine. You did the right thing by field stripping, drying, and lubing it. Is there any visible rust on it? I can't imagine there would be. If there's none I say take it to the range and shoot it 'till your hand hurts!"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. thats a kick *** deal.
- even if it had **** all over the insides.
-friend dropped his one time while sleeping woke up to find it under muddy/sandy floor ( temp housing tent )...gave it a good rinse after a basic teardown and still works.Comment

Modern guns are designed to take so much abuse, a little toilet water won't come close to harming a 92's function. That pistol has gone through many more rigorous tests to make it the issued sidearm of our armed forces. Great buy, I wish I had friends like that.NRA LIFE MEMBERComment

Have a female friend of yours call his wife and tell her she is his mistress, maybe you could score a few more "water damaged" guns...Originally posted by JeffMThe road to hell is paved with good intentions.
