    rem. model 700 question....

ive got a rem. model 700 in .270 win... im done with deer hunting, i mean cmon face it there arent any nice ones left in CA.

so ive made the decision to make a nice target rifle out of it with all the available goodies on the net. Its chambered in .270 which is a long action... Im interested in a .308 target rifle but its a short action round.... question being, can a long action be converted to a short?

basically take my mod 700 .270 win and convert it to .308 win.

dont hammer me to hard guys

You can shoot a short action round in a long action as long as the proper barrel has been installed this is done quite often, go for it

Just find a good smith to put on the barrel. You won't need to change the bolt. Go and buy a nice long action tac stock and you're gtg!!

OR sell yours and buy a SA in 308 like this one ... http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/p...ducts_id/41046

        PERFECT!!!

im gonna get rid of the floor plate and do a detachable mag conversion.. im gonna assume to go with the long action mags and i should still be able to run the short action ammo?

now if to find a nice stock for under $500 with the floor plate opening... LOL!
