Here's one that uses a hot plate and some heating duct.

You can build an oven that will work great for around $500.
Buy a used oven from someone on Craigslist for around $100-$150
        Remove coils and controls
Build new oven frame out of metal studs, sheet metal, proper insulation, and a couple of hinges, latch, etc.
Use coils and controls from cheap oven to heat up new box.

Buying a cheap safe and using that works great too.

A deluxe system can be built for around $2K where the same system would cost around $8K.

I agree. Don't use your kitchen oven to bake your firearms due to the heavy fumes and chemicals that radiate off your firearm when baking. You don't want that stuff ending up on your turkey dinner later on....

As was suggested before, get an electric one off craigslist or check out our local thrift store for one cheap! If you're doing receivers only or smaller pieces, get a small toaster oven from Target or Walmart for 20$ and a thermometer. I use one for my lowers and works great!

I was thinking of that while I was in Wally world yesterday

I figured i'd be better off finding something at a yardsale or craigslist...

saw a pic of one made from steel garbage cans,

and here's a link to the pics

last time I took a look at one like it the creator put the oven on it's side and put down some grates to suspend the rifle, then the cosmoline drips down.

HA!!! found the right link, and i thing you can build this for around 100.00 or maybe less.
