    NDS Uzi Lowers

Just saw Uzi lowers come up on Nodak's website...

    Looks very tempting...Uzi build party???

Can anybody school me on building one off this lower and the legalities surrounding it?

You have to follow 922r if building a Title 1 Long Gun and you have to be in compliance with Federal and California laws. They're very easy to build as long as you have the correct parts.

      UZI

Will have to be a single shot when the lower is transfered to a FFL.

          Just to add to SJgunguy24...

The NDS UZI receiver is just like their NDS AK receivers, and the typical AR lower. These are just virgin receivers and can be purchased by persons 21 and older.
The complexity of the situation arises with what can be built with them. If you build a Title 1 Long Gun, you must follow 922r along with the rest of the Federal and State laws. Virgin receivers that have NEVER had a stock can be built into AOWs if your location allows that NFA ownership option.
Then you have pistol builds... This would have to follow the home builder way of the California legal AK/AR pistol. At this point you'd either need to engage an FFL07 to present you with a California single shot UZI pistol for purchase. Otherwise, you'd have to do the home builder 80% route.

But the UZI lowers on the website have to go to a FFL. in order to make a Pistol from it it will have to DROS as a single shot while at the FFL.

It's a UZI receiver, not lower. the lower on the UZI is not an FFL item.

Building an UZI is even easier than putting together an AR Lower. As long as you have all the parts ready.

                Great info guys!
Id be most interested in the pistol route...So if I've got this right, I DROS the reciever as a single shot pistol and I'm good to go? Almost seems too good to be true. I always have to think that there's a catch with the laws...

You can't DROS a receiver as a single shot pistol.

To qualify as a roster exempt pistol it has to be dimensionally compliant and have a fixed 1 round magazine. A bare receiver doesn't qualify.

There is, an 07 has to build the gun for you, then it can be DROSed to you.

                        Got it...
So what I'm gathering is that a 16" barrel, pinned stock, 10 rd mag, and 922r is the way to go if I want to build on the DROS'd receiver at home and remain compliant/CA legal (much like an AR?).

                          Yup...

You can do a 16"bbl 30"oal fixed 10rd mag build, or a 16"bbl 30"oal detachable mag featureless build.

The only thing I can think off on a featureless build is to install a fixed stock and something to prevent you from gripping the grip since you cannot remove it am I correct?

Weld the folder and affix some type of fin.
