    Hardware store release agent?

This is for steel bedding a stock

What is an easy spray on release agent I can pick up at my local hardware store?

I used shoe polish which works ok, but its hard to tell what area i have covered with it and if i missed a spot

When doing vacuum bag carbon fiber wet lay ups with epoxy resin, I got my best results with:

    Carnauba wax

I've tried PVA and never got it to work although I know people who have.

The best release I ever got was clear packing tape with a little carnauba over that. We used that to patch the cracks in the mould and those spots came out great, everywhere else looked like poo.

I have used Johnson's Paste Wax, Brownell's spray release agent and Pam cooking spray. All worked fine, but I prefer Johnson's Paste Wax, even though it is not a spray on application.

I read good things about this stuff (http://www.rshughes.com/products/40616t_16oz.html); though, I never tried it myself. The vendor is in Sunnyvale.

carnauba wax is the standard mold release for pretty much any application. total pain if you have to get into small details though. ive done the waxed tape thing many times and it works great.

on a side note pva is used as a barrier between the wax and the part so you can remove all wax by washing it with water. pva on its own is not ment to be a release.

Seen my old man use PAM and Carnuba for mold release agents. He used to do a lot of fiberglass repairs on aircraft, boats and cars. I know that TAP Plastic sells a few brands of mold release agents as well.
