    AR-15 Spring inside hammer?

So can anybody tell me what the heck the spring wire inside the hammer is for?

    Photos below:

If you look at the hole in the center of the hammer you will see a wire. Anybody know why its there?

A friend had his fall out and neither he nor I can figure out why its in there.
Look at the tyranny of party -- at what is called party allegiance, party loyalty -- a snare invented by designing men for selfish purposes -- and which turns voters into chattles, slaves, rabbits, and all the while their masters, and they themselves are shouting rubbish about liberty, independence, freedom of opinion, freedom of speech, honestly unconscious of the fantastic contradiction... Not with normal pins.
If you used pins with some external retention, it would work fine.
