I just got mine and here's how I'm gonna convert it. No build party necessary......

However, I'm buying my bullet guide vs. fabricating one and using a Solar Tactical grip wrap w/factory AK grip. My brother says the Saiga's accuracy off the bench is much better than our Romy G AK builds.

        Good Luck with your conversions......

Does anyone that has a Saiga, could they look under the hand guard and tell if the barrel has the grooves cut for a standard lower hand guard retainer. If not, could they tell if there is a boss in the correct position to cut the grooves and slot. I can't stand that dorky Saiga front hand guard.

I just started on a Saiga 223 conversion and it does have the grooves and all the cutouts and the mag dimples.

Some do, I guess during production a large number of Saigas were built with full military barrels. Threaded muzzles and all of the cuts for standard handguard retainers.

Moving the trigger group forward so you can add a pistol grip and/or adding a bullet guide to accept high cap magazines. It can be pretty easy depending on the calibre, the 223 has the cutouts and just need some drilling or grinding to remove 5 rivets and add a screw.

I wouldn't convert a 223 or a 7.62 because of the bullet button needed. But if there was a conversion party for the Saiga 12 I would like to go, since it's got the button on it already.

Who says you need a mag lock on a converted Saiga? You don't need the pistol grip to enjoy the benefits of the conversion. The trigger is improved, the rifle handles better and when fitted with an AK stock, loses about 4" in length.

Well I am in West Covina, CA

I get my gun next wed and the parts should be here by next Friday so any time after that will be good with me if a few people want to meet up somewhere and do this.

                                I am converting a Saiga 12 btw.
