    Another build

OK, I got the bug now- I just ordered one of these to build

Can anyone tell me anything about what I am getting into? Do I need compliance parts for this? Has anyone here ever built one?

    Thanks much

    also curious

I have seen this a few months back (when they where previously on sale) and would love to build one, but I'm not sure what would have to be done either.

This is almost exactly like an AK build, only on a longer receiver

Where can you get the US made parts, receivers or flats from and, if a flat, who sells bending jigs?

Is it a longer receiver? I see the piston is huge, but the only obvious difference (other than possibly the length from the front trunnion to the FCG) is the stock's grip mounts against the FCG, meaning the bottom of the receiver is cut to accept it (and has that curved cut leading up to the top rear rivet.

Ya... if it's a longer receiver, then you're looking at cutting your own flat from virgin plate and making your own bending jigs.

You can do it... it's not rocket science! All you need is a set of blueprints, then compare them to the AK receiver. Might be able to use the "ghetto" method of bending the flat if it's the same width:

I don't know about compliance parts, but the receiver is coming from TGI.

Maybe it doesn't need US parts because it is a sporting rifle? (10 round mags only- no hi caps available) I am just learning. I have been wanting a 7.62x54R though Long range pig gun

This. Thumbhole stocks are considered sporting and the ATF describes the muzzle device as a comp.

TGI is getting receivers from Nodak. Ask them. I think the new receiver is a bit modified to accept a regular AK stock, and cut on the bottom of the receiver for mounting a pistol grip. If you go that route, then you will need compliance parts. The FCG is standard AK. So Tapco or KVAR FCG, US pistol grip, and buttstock. I do believe TGI now sells or makes a US made handguard set also.

TGI also sells the original Romanian PSL receivers that take the thumbhole stock only. With the thumbhole stock version, it does not need to comply with 922r. That is if the bayonet lug has been ground off on the kits.

No, no US parts needed if it's got a thumbhole stock, 10 round magazine, and no bayonet lug.

i'll be surprised if CenterFire will ship this to CA. They are a bit tight when it comes to sending stuff here
but good onya if they will
be aware this is 7.62x54R not 7.62x39 like most AK47-style rifles...

Centerfire has no problem shipping parts kits to CA. Just no high cap mags, or mag parts kits, most guns, or receivers. I've bought 3 Yugo AK parts kits, and one Romanian AK parts kit from Centerfire. Good shipping fee from CF.

Yep, talked to them on the phone- no problem. I ordered the receiver pictured above for the thumbhole stock, so I guess no "extra" parts needed. Also, looks like the receiver comes with a rear trunion and trigger guard- woohooo! Kit comes with bayo lug off too.

                              7.62x54R here I come!

Now all I need is a Krink
