Too bad 1 3/16-16 is not a standard thread.

          No.
ALL buffer tubes, rifle or carbine, commercial or mil-spec, 223 or 308, use the same 1 3/16-16 thread spec.
The hole could be tapped to 1 1/4-12 and then a custom made buffer tube could be made that would thread into the larger threads.

Have you ever heard of receivers with larger threads to accept a commercial tube?

well, now i have a major problem. by using JB weld to hold the buffer tube in place, i have mispositioned it, so that it is pointing too low. eventhough JB weld is supposed to be weak, I cant for the life of me get the extension tube outa the receiver. anyideas?

i tried the heat, and even though the fire was touching the weld, it showed no sign of weakeing

This is probably the point where you get another receiver and start fresh.

Acetone will break down most epoxies; you will need to soak it. Acetone evaporates quickly so keep it covered.
If that doesn’t work I have an industrial strength product that will.

Well it sounds like this thread ended a bit early...

My recommendation would have been to bond the parts together after stripping the anodizing off the buffer threads. Many aircraft structures are bonded and so are the frames of newer Lotus cars. The later uses Dow Chemical heat cured bonding.

Wow, believe it or not, I don't have any acetone. Anyone think sulfuric acid would work?

Sure sulfuric acid will get it apart. Won't effect the jbweld but it will definitely eat the aluminum. To disolve the epoxy you need metheline chloride ... nasty stuff (that they took out of spray paint to make it "safer"). I think if you get the piece up to 600 degrees it should get soft and come apart.
You can still make it a 22
