Similar crown was done on one of my 1911's but without the small flat at the leading edge.
Without a small flat or rounded end, the end of the barrel would be sharp and susceptible to damage.
You can leave a barrel sharp at the edge, but its going to get damaged during disassembly and reassembly or anytime the slide is locked back if you are not careful.
It would also cut circles out of anything you touched with it to include your hands and fingers.

10-4. My crown job was more for aesthetics but I'm aware of the sharp edge so definitely extra careful when handling the barrel.
