Have 1911 barrel milled and crowned

Looking to have my barrels crowned on a couple 1911's, would you see this as a negative thing if you were buying a pistol, basically it being modified

Shouldn't be a negative if just a crown. One might not even notice. Or are you trying to do something fancy?
There are some people that it's just not worth engaging.

It's a muzzle BRAKE, not a muzzle break. Or is your muzzle tired?

I just want the barrels flush with the slide, don't plan to sell the guns, just curious if it is seen as a negative

One of my old 1911's has the barrel cut to be flush with the end of barrel bushing then re-crowned.
I like the way it turned out, so I don't see it as a negative but that's just me.

I purchased a Manson Precision Muzzle Crown Refacing Tool Kit a few years ago and did this to a couple of 1911 barrels on my guns. Accuracy did not change and the process is fast. An option if you like to DIY.

On pages 15 and 16. I got the Military Rifle Re-Crowning Tool Kit.

I've used one of these for years when needed. They come out OK for a DIY job. Not quite the same as off the lathe.

                Yep.
I used one before I had a lathe.
I have not used one since I got a lathe.

It is not meant to replace a lathe, but when one is without a lathe, it is arguably adequate.

Wish I had more pictures. Lost them in a computer crash years ago.

what is wrong with factory finish?
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
                          (thanks to Jeff Cooper)

You have a great reputation. Congrats.
A little off topic, but looking back at the old thread - holy heck! It wasn't the worst chatter I've ever seen (done by the other guy), but it sure wasn't pretty.
I have a pin set, made jaws/collet for the barrel, and indicate it true, then face inside to out with a sharp tool. Some old Witness barrels looked like they were "crowned" by hand using a countersink in a drill press. Accuracy was better after the proper crown.
                            Good luck OP!

Thanks for posting those; that 45degree crown looks really good on that bull barrel.
Similar crown was done on one of my 1911's but without the small flat at the leading edge.
