Working on a Polymer 80 Build

I wanted to share a new Polymer 80 project I am working on. I recently bought the complete kit from Steel Fox Firearms. The kit came with the Glock 19 RMR Cut Skeletonized slide in FDE color. I gotta tell you the slide is pretty solid. Along with the Glock compatible barrel, guide rod, P80 PF940c pistol frame kit which includes the Jig + the drill bits and lower parts kit.

You can take a look at the picture below to see what everything out of the box looks like. I think this is gonna come out to be a pretty solid build. As of now I do not have any upgrade plans. Just putting this together and later down the line I might consider putting some upgrades into work.

Do you have 3.7oz of stainless steel embedded in that frame? Or is it a standard unmodified frame? Remember, what is legal to build in other states may not be the same California(assuming you still live here).

I live in Claifornia but also have a house down in Florida and most of my family is down here. So far as building one of these builds in FL everything complies with the law.

and regarding the 3.7oz stainless steel. The only thing that's embedded in the frame is the standard serial number metal plate in the picatinny rail that's under the frame.

Paint the frame the same color as the slide. Use steel pins not the plastic ones.

Never built done but watching youtubes, remember to drill through the pin holes with a long bit, otherwise they won't line up. A dremel will help a lot with the stuff you have to cut away. You may have to get a harbor freight stone sander to make sure the rail guides are very flat and smooth.

I was watching multiple videos before deciding to get started on building one, I have done Polymer 80 Glock 17 version, from what I see everyone seems to have different tricks to create a perfect p80 build. I think mostly where the challenge comes in is that you got to take your time drilling these holes and never drill 2 holes on the one go, got to take your time with each side and each hole to get it straight and perfect.

As far as the assembly goes you have to make sure you have good quality parts that properly fit. Or you'll face inconvenient experience of putting it together and constantly finding something wrong with your build.

It's better to drill through both sides from one side than to drill through both sides separately from different sides.
Drilling from only one side keeps the holes aligned.
You need to have the drill bit square to the frame of course but that's easy on a drill press with the table squared to the drill chuck.

Excellent! Glad that you are aware of what you are doing. As Randall said, its best to drill through both sides from 1 direction, so long as it is secured and on a drill press. If you are using a handheld then going slow from each side tends to work better.
