    Best slide/parts for a poly 80?

So I'm thinking of getting into the poly 80 thing,
(watching to much marine gun builder).
Got a 19 frame on the way and if that works well, maybe try a
21 frame. From what I've read it seems that many of the under $250-$300
    slide are out of spec/break.

    So my questions are:

What parts do you all like?
    Where have you found parts?
    Who to stay away from?

    Thanks!

Are you aware that you can't legally build the type of pistol you are contemplating building in California?

      Hmmm.

Does the magwell already come hollowed out?

Wouldn't that be nice if you could get them with a filled magwell, then hollow them out later on? But yes. I think given the current law, you could not do it because of the following:

      1. Barrel length being too short. (can be fixed, but yeah anyways...)
      2. Single shot to semi conversion. You could not run it with a magazine at all because by its nature it is a semi automatic.
      3. Overall length would need to be 10" IIRC and that could be an issue that works with or without the barrel.

      Did I miss anything?

I was hoping this would be a thread with Glock parts and what parts are working nicely for upper slide builds...

This is really the only thing you can do. Buy yourself a nice Gen-3 G-17 and go crazy with the slide/ barrel...

That is what I did. Now I am on the road to having a $2000 G-17... I feel like a ricer too... BUT, at least the parts are good and I am learning how to build out slides.

And to think it all started with my Sig P320...

I have completed 3 of the Poly80 kits. Spend the extra $ to get OEM Glock parts to populate the frame and slide. Install any add-ons or upgrade parts after break-in. So far, none of my 3 P80's have suffered a malfunction in 450 rounds of testing.

For slides, I have been very happy with ones made and sold by "P80 Builder". Their slides are perfectly finished and reasonably priced. The Brownell slides are also good, but they don't spend as much time getting all of the contours as smooth as an OEM Glock. I don't mess with any of the high-priced designer slides with all of the fancy cut-outs as I find them to be over-priced.

While they (lefty politicians) are working hard to ban 80% receivers, as far as I know none have been declared "illegal". Anyone saying these are illegal is simply spreading FUDD. Now if you are in a "nanny-state" (like CA, NY, NJ, etc) chances are slim that you will be able meet the threshold to complete the project legally.

The last thing I will say (and can't say often enough) is that it is highly unlikely that you will save any money by building your own Glock. You'll most likely spend MORE. I spent over a year procuring parts on the deepest discounts. In the end, all that effort saved me little more than what sales tax would have cost.

For all internal parts I use factory Glock parts. Have had too many issues with others especially the connectors. As for the slide I like and use slides by Aim Surplus. Nicely made not fancy not a lot of money and they work.

I’ve done several DIY versions and they have ran right from the get go with no issues.

You guys might be assuming he resides in CA.
It's legal in at least 40 other states that are NOT California.
He obviously lives in one of those.

Stick with OEM Glock parts for everything and you should be good to go.
